Underfloor heating pipe provides the vital link between your underfloor heating system and the main distribution manifold. Designed to carry a high amount of water and operate under pressure, it’s a crucial part of any UFH installation and must be installed correctly to ensure your heating works at its best.
When calculating the amount of underfloor heating pipe you need, you need to take into account the size of the room and whether there are any obstacles such as fixed furniture or cabinetry that will block the heat flow. Once you’ve taken these into account, subtract them from the total area of the room and multiply that by 0.8 to get the number of pipes required.
A good quality UFH pipe will be strong enough to hold the water pressure of the system and also offer a high level of thermal conductivity to effectively heat up the floor. It should be kink resistant and easy to work with, so you can bend it without losing its shape. The material should be able to withstand freezing conditions and not deteriorate over time, meaning it will keep its integrity under the ground.
We stock Warmup’s range of UFH pipes in a variety of options, widths and lengths to suit your project. They’re all made from five-layer cross-linked polyethylene with an EVOH oxygen barrier to stop oxygen entering the system and maximise their lifespan. They’re available in both a versatile 16mm x 2mm and 14mm x 2mm size for underfloor and concrete slab respectively. All are UL94V-0 flame retardant and come with a lifetime guarantee.
