Problems with Meat grinder?? Well, problems are inevitable with a gadget. Let’s solve it!!!
A meat grinder is easy to operate, and the maintenance is convenient enough. However, there are some common meat grinder problems that most of the users face. If you are planning to buy one or already have one, you should know about the problems beforehand. Don’t worry we have added fixes for all theme problems.
Grinder Head Issue
Problem:
The head of the meat grinder pushes down the meat to the blades for grinding. Therefore, a problem with the head can lead to inconsistent grinding and jamming.
Solution:
All you need to do in such a scenario is open up the head and clean it and put it back properly. It is due to continuous use, the head might have loosened up. If the problem continues, take it to the nearby repair store.
Grinder Teeth Issue
Problem:
The teeth of the meat grinder tend to wear down with continuous usage. It is especially so when you put in the bones with the meats. Due to which you will experience unsatisfactory grinding and performance going down.
Solution:
You need to remove the casing and detach the teeth. It is only a matter of few screws, and you should check the condition of the teeth. If you need replacing, go for it. Otherwise, sharpen them and put them back.
Friction Issue
Problems:
One of the common meat grinder problems is that friction they encounter when you grind the fresh meat. Grinding the unfrozen meat is certainly a messy job.
Solution:
You should put the meat in the freezer for thirty minutes before grinding. You can also apply edible oil like olive oil in the interior parts of the grinder to reduce the friction and go for a smooth grinding. Moreover, this also takes care of the issue of drying of meat after grinding that some users complain of.
Switching On Issue
Problems:
If you are using a manual meat grinder, this should not be a problem. However, if you are using an electric meat grinder which you need to plug into the main supply or has a rechargeable battery power supply, switching on the issue is common. Sometimes, the problem can be due to the main outlet or the cord connecting the grinder to the current supply.
Troubleshooting:
It could be due to low battery charge which could be due to battery issue or charger issue if you think you charged your battery. You need to try with a spare battery or different power outlet before taking it for repairing. Also, make sure that you are using the right power supply.
A meat grinder is a simple machine, and there are not many problems involved in it that you cannot solve at your home. If you are going to grind bones and certain hard veggies, it is better for you to opt for a heavy-duty meat grinder so that you use for years without any proper service.
Hello,
I own a basic Breville meat grinder for home use. Recently I replaced the cutting blade. After grinding a few kilos of meat I went to disassemble it but the feed screw seems to be completely stuck. The grinding head which houses the feed screw isn’t able to detach from the grinder as the feed screw will not come out of its sitting within the machine. I’ve tried putting it in reverse and feeding some more ingredients through to attempt to drive the cork back out. But its simply stuck. Have you ever encountered this??
Any advice would be apricated.
Many thanks,
Jack
