Explosion Proof Ball Valve with Positioner
Electric actuated fire safe and explosion proof ball valves are typically used in applications that may have flammable process fluids or gases. These 316 stainless steel valves mount between standard ANSI 150# flanges. They have a dual certified fire safe/low emission investment cast body with a PTFE seat and seals for better performance and safety. This valve is FM approved for shut-off of fuel oils, gases and other media compatible with the materials of construction.
When selecting an actuator for a specific valve, the overall system design and the valve torque requirements should be considered. A properly sized actuator will provide ample output force to reliably operate the valve under peak flow and pressure conditions. The valve size and the material of construction are important factors in determining the required actuator torque output. For example, thermoplastic valves such as PVC, CPVC, GFPP and PVDF have different inherent properties. These differences are defined in the cell class codes outlined by ASTM standards. The different material characteristics affect the tensile strength, impact resistance and elasticity of the plastic.
In addition to the available electric actuator options, an explosion proof ball valve with a positioning system can improve control and automation. A digital electro-pneumatic valve positioner uses a 4-20mA input control signal to move a linear or rotary actuator to adjust the valve opening or closing position. It can also be configured to operate other types of valves such as butterfly, plug and damper actuators in quarter-turn operating applications. Explosion Proof Ball Valve with Positioner
