Designed for football players, our custom grip socks offer the perfect fit like a second skin, locking the foot in place and improving stability on the pitch. Quick-drying fabrics and temperature control vents keep your feet dry and comfortable so you can focus on the game ahead.
The use of grip socks is increasingly common within team sports, especially for high intensity movements such as acceleration, deceleration and change of direction. However, it is unclear whether the benefits of grip socks are mediated through changes in shoe contact forces or simply improved foot gripping.
Grip socks are thin, cotton-based sock with rubber or silicone attached to the bottom of the sock, often in the form of dots or lines. The rest of the sock is usually made of breathable, sweat-wicking cotton or polyester.
The aim of this study was to determine whether the application of grip socks reduces in-shoe foot motion and improves change of direction performance in team sport players. Participants completed 3 trials in which they were either provided with grip socks or asked to wear their normal socks (control). Force plates measured the shoe contact forces during each trial and timed gates recorded each participant’s change of direction performance.
Results showed that grip socks significantly reduced the in-shoe foot motion and improved change of direction performance. This was primarily mediated by reduced contact force between the foot and shoe, but also through improved gripping of the sock by the foot. These results suggest that the use of grip socks may offer a practical and cost-effective solution to improving foot contact forces and therefore changing the way in which force is mediated through the foot-shoe interface during change of direction performance. custom grip socks
